Wanango argued that the celebrations often started more than two hours of when they were slated to begin, a habit that he termed as bad and irritable, which often left residents angered.

“In many of the occasions we have people from all over Naivasha as early as eight. However, due to the delay by the police to come and officiate the function, many left for home,” noted Wanango.

Wanango cited that this prevented many from listening to the presidential speech or even the messages the local leaders were trying to convey to them.

“By the time the speakers start addressing the residents, you find that most of them have left either to eat or to go back to their daily activities. The Police should realize that when you give somebody your time, you are giving him a part of you that you can never recover,” he added

He was speaking during celebrations to mark Jamhuri Day, where he raised concern over the hiring of bands to lead the police.

“We have the prudent scouts in Naivasha who are well known for their performance and can lead the police. Using the excuse that the band was what delays them as they have to wait for them to come is a cheap excuse,” he quipped
