Ababu quit the party in July over what he termed as frustrations from the top leadership and subsequently joined Labour Party of Kenya.

And now Nyamira County Assembly Chief Whip Peter Maroro has lauded the acting secretary general Agnes Zani terming her ‘focused and serious’ with her responsibilities.

“I have all the respect for Ababu but I think he was a bit lazy. He had all the space to revamp the party in his capacity but failed. I can now say the position was not as weak as he made as to believe when he was on his way out,” he said.

“Zani has brought about several changes and I think this is the right way to go. She is more focused and serious. We have seen her organising several rallies and I think our party is now catching up and soon, all will be fine,” he said.

Maroro challenged his party leader Raila Odinga to confirm Zani’s position so that she can concentrate fully on executing her responsibilities as they head towards the 2017 general election.

“Maybe she should be confirmed fully so that she can put more concentration on revamping the party as we head elections,” he said.
