Sergoit Ward MCA Kipchumba Barteng has urged Members of Parliament to amend the constitution so that development funds can be channeled directly to the wards.

He said the current law allows governors to handle funds and tenders which are given on 'how loyal you are to him basis.'

"If the constitution is amended, we will be able to handle our development funds, award tenders to competitive individuals and not on a friendship basis like governors do," he said. 

Mr Barteng said it will be easier for them to plan for more relevant projects.

"If the money is directly channeled to us it will be easier for us to meet the expectations of our electorate," he said.

He was speaking in his ward on Wednesday after inspecting development projects.
