Hell’s Gate Member of County Assembly (MCA) Jonathan Warothe has urged security agencies to speed up investigations and arrest those involved in the killing of a Lake Naivasha fisherman last week.
Speaking to reporters after the burial of the fisherman in Karagita estate, the MCA faulted security agencies of taking too long to arrest the killers who committed the crime in Naivasha last week.
He expressed concerns over the delay in arresting and prosecuting the suspects despite ‘them being known’.
“It’s unfortunate that security agencies are not keen to arrest and prosecute law breakers. The county government should streamline security and end conflicts between white settlers and residents,” he said.
Warothe said continued animosity among residents and some settlers, especially in Naivasha is not good for development.
The fisherman was allegedly shot dead by a white settler, an incident that sparked protests among residents.
While visiting the area to quell the situation, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua invited the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to probe the matter.
