Kiambu County nominated MCA Mary Mwangi has called on her fellow MCAs not to approve the purchase of official vehicles for the ward administrators and other county officials.
The MCA says the approval would lead to misappropriation of public funds.
Mwangi said that the governor had ordered the special sitting by the MCAS earlier to pass a supplementary budget to purchase the county vehicles as well as give other institutions like hospitals the equipment which have been insufficient.
She said that the MCAs are being used by the county government to misappropriate the public funds yet they are the ones who will account for the same in the next general elections when they return to the people to beg for votes.
“These people are being used and they are not aware that come 2017 they will be asked by the public what they did for the period they have been in leadership,” she said.
She added she will not relent in her campaign to safeguard the residents’ funds and thus she will influence fellow MCAs to turn a deaf ear to the leaders in the county government with an ill-motive of embezzling the money.
Speaking in Thika Sub-county stadium when she accompanied the area MP in the disbursing of the bursaries, the MCA said that it is unfair to deny the people who voted in a chance of development when they are deeply in need and instead consume the funds for your own benefit.
