Thika East MCA Cecilia Wamaitha has urged police to conduct more patrols in the ward, saying several residents have complained of insecurity.

The MCA, who spoke to journalists after addressing women groups on Monday, said that provision of security should be the first priority of the government.

Wamaitha added that the police have a responsibility to weed out and deal with criminal elements.

“I have received several complaints of rising insecurity and want ask the police to up their game by arresting and charging criminals in court of law,” she said.

The ward representative asked locals to feel free and report cases of crime to the police saying that no one will be victimized.

She also asked the residents to work closely with the police noting that it is the only way through which security will be realized.

Meanwhile, the MCA has called on women in the ward to embrace table banking so that they can start and expand their businesses.

She observed that through table banking they will be able to access soft loans which will boost their various enterprises.

The MCA also asked women to form groups and apply for Uwezo fund, saying that the fund was set a side for women, youths and persons living with disability.

Wamaitha said that she will spearhead policies that will empower women with the aim of eradicating poverty.
