The nominated representative challenged the county government to put legislation and lay out structures to stop institutional imbalance between men and women.

Speaking at Maseno University in a conference held at the institution yesterday on Saturday, Odhiambo said women needed better policies aimed at enhancing gender roles thus creating enabling environment to both gender.

She said that this can only be done when everyone does their part, set target and achieve it; women also need to avoid complaining but get to the kitchen and see it done.

“Women are highly below the table and men should not think they have been disempowered when we call for gender mainstreaming,” said odhiambo.

Maendeleo ya Wanawake representative Eunita Odongo also urged the government to put in place measures by women to curb parity amongst gender through empowering and legislating for proper structures.

“We need to come up with policies favouring both genders and giving equal education and job opportunities amongst across the gender divide, and we women should believe that they can do something good just like men and above all legislate for proper structure,” said Odongo.
