Murera MCA George Kioi has urged youth to from groups and apply for the development funds being given out by the government.
Speaking in Thika town on Saturday, the MCA encouraged youth to apply for Uwezo and Biashara Funds.
He said that through the funds youth will be able to start business ventures of their choice.
The MCA observed rising unemployment in the area will reduce if the youth apply for development funds.
“We are encouraging young people to form groups and take advantage of the development funds the government is giving out,” said Mr Kioi.
The MCA also advised the youth to apply for government tenders and do business with the government.
He noted the number of youth applying for the 30 per cent government tenders was low.
The MCA said the tenders were specifically set aside for marginalised groups and have to utilize them.
The Murera MCA said he was pushing programmes that will enable youth empowerment.
He also asked the youth to work with him on development projects that he is initiating together with the county government.
