Gabow wants aspirants to conduct peaceful campaigns that will unite locals.

Speaking in Garissa Town on Wednesday, Gabow said that aspirants have the responsibility to preach unity as they woo for votes.

The Jubilee MCA hopeful warned politicians against intolerance, saying it threatens peace and stability of the country especially during  this electioneering period.

“It is important for us (aspirants) to preach unity  and peace as we woo for votes,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Gabow said that the country will hold peaceful polls if politicians shun divisive politics.

The MCA aspirant  at the same time urged the national government to take stern action against perpetrators of hatred and violence.

Gabow said that chaotic scenes witnessed in the recently concluded party primaries in some parts of the country raises fears on the country’s preparedness in conducting peaceful polls.

He appealed to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the police not to tolerate politicians who spew inflammatory remarks in campaigns.

The Jubilee MCA aspirant urged Kenyans to remain peaceful before, during and after the August 8 polls.
