Kangundo MCA Boniface Kilonzo has been blamed for interfering with the issuance of birth certificates in his ward.
Speaking on Wednesday in Kangundo town, a section of the residents stated that previously, there were officers from Machakos offices who visited the locations and helped the residents with filling the forms for birth certificate application.
Seth Ndunge, one of the residents says that it is now hard to access the forms.
“The last time the officers visited our location was early January and they faced hostility. This is after the MCA warned them not to return terming them as impersonators who were taking people’s details with bad intentions,” he said.
Kangundo, Matungulu and Kathiani constituencies have no birth certificate offices situated in their area which has made it hard for them to get the vital documents.
This forces the residents travel to Machakos town immigration offices to access the services.
David Mutungi, a parent stated that his two children had not yet been issued with certificates as he had given their details to the immigration officers who were discouraged from visiting their locations.
“I am from Kawethei sub-location and these officers from Machakos immigration offices have always helped us. I differ with our MCA who says they are bad people. At the moment, we have to travel all the way to Machakos office for the application forms,” said Mutungi.
This comes barely a week after the MCA warned the residents in Kangundo on Monday not to give their details to strangers who alleged to be immigration officers but instead seek services from the county offices.
