An MCA has called on the county government to release funds meant for road repairs in his ward.
Katangi Ward's Felix Ngui said the roads in the ward were poor, calling on the county government to kick start repairs.
He said the roads could become impassable with the onset of El Nino rains.
The MCA said the Sh3.6 million budgeted for the work would help improve the state of the roads in the ward and support business.
He was speaking at Mukothia market on Thursday during a public meeting.
He said some Public Service Vehicles had withdrawn from operation because of the poor state of roads.
Ngui said constant repairs on the roads in the ward will support development.
"The El Nino is almost here and we expect them to release the funds and repair the roads that are in a wanting state as we wait for the rains," Ngui said.
"Business will not be of any good without roads as we are utilising a lot of funds in transporting goods and products."
Machakos County Transport and Roads Chief Officer Eng Morris Aluanga in a phone interview with this writer however, said repair works for the roads in Yatta sub-county had been funded but the county government had not yet released the money.
He said the funds will be released within seven days and expects road repairs to start immediately.
