In an address to journalists, Mr. James Mburuti of Komothai stated that increase the allocations will enable more needy students in the area to access the funds.

Mr Mburuti intimated that the current allocations are not sufficient to cater for needy students who are in large numbers all over the county.

“I want to ask the county authorities to consider increasing bursary allocations to because of the high population here which translates to more needy students,”, he said.

The MCA insisted that most needy students fail to access the fund over what he termed as frustrations from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committees.

He further alleged that some needy students are being denied the funds for varied reasons some of which are in-genuine.

The MCA called for stern action on individuals who he claimed are a stumbling block to development.

Mr. Muruti further urged the county government to start initiatives that will promote education standards in the area.

He observed that most students are not going to school despite the existence of Free Primary Education. He declared that education is the only tool that can be used to fight poverty in the society and empower the people.

The county law maker decried high poverty levels in the ward adding that he is working closely with the county and national government to improve people’s standards of living.
