Biashara Ward MCA Steven Kuria has urged his supporters and other residents to embrace public participation forums in the assembly. Speaking at Tas hotel in Nakuru town, the MCA said that this will help them monitor his performance and that of his colleagues in serving the public. He was addressing a Public Service Forum Workshop that was organized by the Federation of Nakuru County NGOs. The Ward representative urged voters to desist from consulting unfounded media reports and propaganda by local political aspirants over the conduct of Members of the County Assembly. He proposed they rather embrace the public participation forum in the County Assembly to monitor the conduct and performances of their representatives. “Voters should not just believe everything being reported in the media and lies being thrown around by political aspirants getting ready for the next general elections. I urge them to participate in the assembly procedures and debates so that they can monitor events and make informed decisions,’’ said the outspoken MCA. According to Kuria, most Members of the County Assembly were actively serving the public in drafting bills and sitting in committees and debates so as to influence development agenda. However they felt like a witch-hunt was launched against them in the media by their rivals. Kuria in particular urged his Biashara Ward supporters to visit the Assembly during debates and bill votes to monitor his contributions, and to challenge him on a grassroots level about his development agenda, instead of giving chances to political aspirants busy spreading propaganda in order to gain political mileage.
