Ikombe Member of the County Assembly Reuben Nganga has condemned the controversial remarks by Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama during a Cord rally.

Speaking in his ward on Sunday, Nganga said Muthama's utterances last week should be taken as his views and not of Ukambani or Machakos people.

He sent his apologies to President Uhuru Kenyatta on behalf of Machakos people, commending Jubilee government's efforts to set up development projects in Machakos county.

"The President deserves respect, he has been supporting our people since he was elected. It is unfortunate that Muthama's statement is being used to criticise Ukambani people. He did not speak for us," he said.

He urged political leaders to respect the constitution and its provisions.

The MCA now wants Muthama to be prosecuted over his remarks.
