The MCA on Tuesday said that politics of hatred should not be tolerated in the country, adding that Kenya needs peace and that politicians who perpetuate hatred must be dealt with according to the law.

“It is unfortunate that politicians are spreading hate messages instead of uniting and preaching reconciliation among Kenyans,” he said when he met small scale traders in Thika town on Tuesday,

The MCA urged the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to be firm and deal with hate mongers decisively, noting that the commission has the powers to order for arrest and prosecution of hate mongers.

Mwangi further called on Kenyans to stop associating with politicians who perpetuate hate.

On Sunday during a live interview on a local TV station, NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo said that monitoring of hate mongers was a challenge, but promised that the commission has put in place measures to tame hate mongers ahead of the 2017 general elections.

He appealed to the media to help the commission in monitoring of the hate messages especially on social media platforms.
