A Mombasa Member of County Assembly was on Monday arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of inciting voters.Airport Ward MCA Ibrahim Oyugi Omondi alias Bomoa is accused of allegedly inciting voters not to participate in the October 26 repeat presidential polls.Omondi is also accused of calling President Uhuru Kenyatta a ‘caretaker president’.The MCA was arrested on Friday morning and detained at Port police following the remarks made during a media briefing on October 19.Omondi, however, denied the charges before Mombasa Principle Magistrate Francis Kyimbia.Omondi’s lawyer Mohamed Faki filed an application before the court seeking to have his client released on bond.Faki accused the police of denying his client police bail following his arrest on Friday.Magistrate Kyimbia granted the accused’s request and ordered he be released on a surety bond of Sh200,000 or a Sh100,000 cash bail.The case will be mentioned on November 7, 2017.
