An exercise to elect the Speaker at the Migori County Assembly was halted, and postponed to a later date, after angry youth stormed the House, Thursday.

Chaos rocked the Assembly as the gang disrupted the sitting, taking away election material, after voting reached the second round.

A total of 10 candidates had applied to be the Speaker.

The Members of County Assembly (MCAs) had voted in the first round, but no candidate had attained the required number of votes of two thirds majority.

In the first round, Kerario Marwa got 25 votes followed by Boaz Okoth at 21.

Nominated MCA Ester Onana, collapsed during the commotion, an incident that saw him rushed to Migori County Referral Hospital for medication.

Security was heightened at the Assembly following the incident, but it remained unclear if the gang was sponosred.

A number of the MCAs called for immediate investigations, with some saying ODM should be party to produce the Speaker.
