Mr. Hassan said the authorities should investigate, arrest and prosecute the culprits who committed the crime.

Speaking in Mandera, Mr. Hassan said what happens in Ethiopia should not affect clans living in Kenya.

On Tuesday, unknown number of attackers suspected to be from Garre clan, an Ethiopian clan, attacked the Choroqo village in Mandera that is near the Kenya-Ethiopian border.

The killing by the armed Garre militia was a revenge mission after two men from the Garre clan riding a motorcycle were killed in Ethiopia on Monday.

MCA Hassan urged the clans to live peacefully and stop the constant conflicts which have led into the loss of human lives and destruction of properties worth millions.

“What happened on Tuesday was so unfortunate and it should not be happening in the current times. What happens in another country should not be affecting us in Kenya. Clans should embrace peace and unity,” said the MCA.

The Garre and Degodia clans agreed on a ceasefire in 2013 after prolonged clashes that left hundreds dead and property destroyed.

Banisa Deputy County Commissioner Mathias Chisambo who confirmed the killings said investigations into the incident have been launched.

“Suspected clan militia from the Garre clan killed five people from the Degodia clan. It is not clear who killed the sixth person. We are in the process of knowing who killed the sixth person on the road,” he added.
