Ward representative Alfayo Mwongeresa unveiled the borehole on Friday to bring to an end a process that commenced eight months ago.

According to the school headteacher, Simon Ogechi, the project will save time lost by students in search of water, which will also help the surrounding community.

“This is a massive project by our MCA and we laud him for that," Ogechi said.

"Our students will save time lost in fetching water in this dry month of January. The surrounding community will also be free to fetch water from the school premises,” he said.

He urged parents to support leaders who are developmental-oriented and desist from being lured to incentives during the period of elections.

“It is advisable for our parents to choose focused leaders. Of course I'm not a politician but I want to put emphasis on developmental leadership that is beneficial to the society,” he added.

When contacted by phone, the MCA said programmes were in place to drill boreholes in at least 10 schools in the region that are in dire need of water after consultation with area residents.

“I'm aware that more needs to be done and that is my obligation. I will commission 10 other similar projects in schools that will be identified by voters,” he said.
