Menengai Ward MCA Michael Macharia, while speaking in the ward on Wednesday during a meet the people tour presided over by the area MP David Gikaria, termed the spirited quest for a referendum being agitated by Cord as a mere ‘power hungry game’ that cannot see the light of the day. He said the referendum will fail as Kenyans were not interested in elections now.

He observed that the Cord leadership was desperately seeking power by all means but had no concrete reasons to fault the government.

Macharia said: “We are ready to show Kenyans that we are in charge of the government and committed to delivering service to wananchi according to our manifesto. We will not allow a few idle people to disrupt us. Let them continue making noise while we work to develop the country.”

He urged Nakuru County residents to remain peaceful and united and not to be divided by the referendum politics as there was nothing to gain from such cheap politics. He said the referendum calls were aimed at dividing the country along tribal lines and disrupting government activities.
