Nyamira County Assembly nominated MCA Ms Willkster Onsado has demanded a clarification why the devolved unit has only four women drivers out of the 104 county drivers.
Speaking on the floor of the House on Wednesday evening, MCA Ms Onsado demanded to know whether women applied for the posts or they were not qualified.
"Mr Speaker Sir, I wish and demand to know why the county government has only four women drives out of 104 drivers yet we have trained women drivers. Is it that women didn't qualify or they didn't not apply for the posts and if they did, what criteria did they use to select only men?" she posed.
She also continued to say that the county government of Nyamira is underrating women by not adhering to two-third gender rule as stipulated by the constitution.
"The county did not observe the two third gender rule when employing drivers. We can't have four women drivers out of 104 drivers Mr Speaker Sir which is against the constitution".
