Bomariba MCA Protus Moindi has decried the rampant encroachment on road reserves in the area giving contractors difficulty in expanding them
According to Moindi, the construction of permanent structures on the road reserves was a threat to human lives due to road accidents, a security risk, and a hindrance to future road expansions.
Speaking at Bomariba on Wednesday evening when he visited the ongoing expansion of Bomorenda–Bomariba road, the MCA said work is ongoing despite the fact that the contractor is facing challenges to expand it.
“This is an emerging trend in the county and it is very frustrating. when constructing roads," he added.
He urged all county and National government departmental heads to take full responsibility of their dockets and apply the law to curb such malpractices.
“The law is very clear on how you should deal with this emerging vice in your docket which is mainly perpetrated by selfish political interests," he added.
Moindi said there was confusion on who was responsible for roads between the national and county governments with the later demanding to be given more responsibilities on road management in their areas.
