Hospital Ward MCA, Mwangi Wamwangi, has decried the high crime rate in Majengo area, Thika town.
According to Wamwangi, crime rate in the area has gone high where several businessmen have been attacked.
Speaking in his office when he met with residents on Monday, Wamwangi called on the police to conduct a raid in the area or else residents will do it.
Wamwangi said that not even the fact that the area is located near Thika Administration Police (AP) has saved it from criminal activities.
He warned that if the police will not take action, he and the residents are ready to take the law into their hands.
“If the police are not in a position to protect us, we will fight the crime with the help of community policing department,” warned wamwangi.
He urged residents to unite and fight for their safety as some of the officers are not bothered to secure them.
Wamwangi added that the lower part of Chania River has been known to being a criminals' hiding den but the police have never conducted a raid to apprehend culprits being shielded by corrupt officers.
