The trip which coincided with another MCAs conference countrywide in Mombasa lasted for five days and precipitated online ridicule by a section of disgruntled residents.

But Mr. Nyameino who spoke to the reporter on phone said the tour was ‘fruitful’ since it enabled his team get information on proper budget planning and expenditure.

“United Arab Emirates is one of the established economies in the world and I don’t think there is anything wrong for a county to benchmark their budgetary planning and expenditure methodologies. The trip was fruitful,” he said.

“Sometimes it’s wrong for us to trivialize everything. The county government not has to grow and we can do that by learning from others. Benchmarking is provided in various acts and as long as it’s for the benefit of Entire County, I don’t see the reason why we should politicize everything,” he added.

He urged residents to support the MCAs by boosting them morally to establish solid foundations for the county to grow economically.

“It’s our role to oversight so the trip couldn’t be ranked as one of those ones that deprive people resources. We have acquired knowledge on how to do things better so it’s important that as MCAs, we get support from locals for the better of our county,” he said.
