Massive pressure has rocked ODM party leader Raila Odinga after Siaya-based multi-billionaire and CEO for Dominion Farms Limited Calvin Burgess alleged that the former Premier had attempted to extort money from him an MCA has come to his defense.
“In 2007 General Election, Raila demanded that I support him politically with large sums of money but I declined as it is against the US law which could have seen my company being fined Sh200 million,” Burgess said.
The Central Alego MCA Leonard Oriaro challenged Mr Burgess to record a statement with the relevant authorities to confirm that whatever he has been talking about is not a political propaganda.
"He should visit the directorate of criminal investigations and inspector general of police to record his statement to used on the prosecutorial ground to pin down Raila Odinga that should prove that he is truly a patriotic American," said Oriaro.
Oriaro further questioned the timing of Burgess claims which are coming out to attack Raila Odinga in an electioneering year.
"I must also say going by the time of the release of this content, this means that Jubilee is using Calvin Burgess, my appeal to him is if truly he was after investment time has come for him to pack up," he said.
"It's like he has been investing in raw politics instead of commercial investment," he added.
Jubilee MPs have been urging Raila to clear his name on the matter since Burgess first revealed the claims but Raila is yet to put his weight into the issue.
