Bonyamatuta ward rep Robinson Mocheche now says the county government of Nyamira has no fire engine, four years since the inception of the devolved unit.
His remarks come after his house was razed by fire at Kebirigo and there was no fire engine to help put out the flames.
He accused the county of failing to buy the equipment, a move he noted, has made residents incur great losses whenever there is a fire outbreak.
“In Nyamira county, there is no fire engine but residents have been told that there is one. As the MCA, I know that since the inception of devolution, the county has never bought any fire engine,” said Mocheche.
“It is so sad when residents incur losses as a result of fires that can be put out by the equipment, I urge the county to ensure it buys a fire engine,” he added.
The MCA who spoke in Kebirigo said the assembly passed a motion allowing the county to buy a fire engine something that has not been implemented to date.
