This comes just a few days after the deadly attacks at Garissa University College by suspected Al-Shabaab militia that left more than a hundred people dead and scores injured where majority of the deceased were students from the institution.

Moracha faulted the government over deteriorating security in the county adding that the government has become incompetent in dealing with security matters and that it has been promising heightened security in all parts of the country which is contrary to what is experienced in most parts of the country.

Speaking at Kisii Central SDA Church, Moracha said more security personnel should be deployed to institutions to reduce the risk of students being attacked in future.

“It is quite sad that we can lose many students in a terror attack, yet we have Police and Army officers who are paid by tax payers who suffer insecurity. I honestly think the government is treating matters pertaining security with little seriousness, said Moracha.

He also observed that it was not the first time they are asking government to deploy security in learning institutions.

“We cannot have officers who are only harassing Chang’aa brewers but fail to protect us from terror attacks,” added Moracha.

Moracha asked the government to establish military camps along the porous Kenya-Somalia border to combat Al-Shabaab threats.

“We should shift our Army camps to the border. In my understanding, we only have make shift camps there which is wrong. It is my sincere request to President Uhuru Kenyatta to deploy more troops in that border,” appealed Moracha.
