Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has visited the Umoja demolitions evictees and donated food stuffs to them ahead of their case hearing on March 27, 2015.
Mwangi said that the residents of his ward deserve peace of mind and that they are sure to win the case and the private developer will compensate the victims.
The case was set to be heard on February 5 but the prosecution gave the developer more time to prepare after the lawyer representing them said that his clients are outside country and they will be around this month.
Wamwangi sued the developer after acquiring an injunction to stop the land from being put into any project before the case is heard and settled.
Governor William Kabogo, who toured the area earlier, supported the MCA and said that he will advocate for their rights and no one will evict them from their ‘own land’.
The MCA, as well as the county government, have now given the residents foodstuffs while others received tents and clothing for their shelter considering they were left homeless on the demolition day.
