The Mary Immaculate Childrens home in Sigona ward will have a reason to smile after area MCA Mutonya Njenga supplied three GOTV decoders in the school to enable them migrate to the digital world.
This comes after the Communications Authority switched off the three mainstream media houses that were still operating in analogue in the country.
The pupils could not hide their joy and happiness of the digital set-top boxes, which the MCA said will help them to be informed.
The county legislator, who was speaking on Monday at his ward, said he will supply the set-top boxes to various children's home in the ward and has urged the leaders in Kiambu to remember the orphans and the needy by supporting them.
“I urge my counterparts to follow suit and help the needy in the society by giving support in any way possible to help save our generation,” said the MCA.
Njenga, however, expressed his concerns with abandoned children in the hospitals and bushes in the county with parents neglecting them, terming it as inhuman.
“Why give birth to a child then dump it, have family planning and give birth to a child you can take care of it, remember it is inhuman,” said Njenga.
He said that women should go for family planning instead of giving birth to children and later dumping them on the streets.
