Thika Hospital Ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has commissioned a new public toilet in his ward which is meant to create employment and serve the area residents complains that lack of the facility that was affecting the health status of the locals.

The event which was graced by Kiambu Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji is meant to eradicate the use of ‘flying toilets’ which was rampant in the areas as well as create employment for youth in the hospital ward.

The MCA told the press on Friday in his ward that the toilet will employ atleast six people of the community thus encourage youth to follow suit and venture into other businesses of their own.

“Atleast six people will be employed in the ward to cater for their families. I encourage other youth to join the initiative and be entrepreneurs,” said Mwangi.

The Juakali Washroom which is an initiative of ‘Jungle Foundation’ spearheaded by the legislator is meant to attract young entrepreneurs into the organisation to nature and attract investors in the region.

According to the MCA, the charges will be Sh20 per person which he said will generate income in his ward bearing in mind that there are few washrooms in the area.

“The initiative will help the youth in generating income in the area and avoid crime through funds collected,” he said.

The law maker stated that plans are underway to construct bodaboda shades in the region to accommodate bodaboda operators who have decried lack of shades for parking.

He however challenged the youth to avoid drug and substance abuse which he pointed out as the main downfall to our generation.

He condemned the peddlers who supplied the toxic substance in his ward and fired warning to work hand I hand with community policing unit to tame individuals and flash them out.
