Witeithie ward MCA Peter Muiruri has criticised area administrator Charles Angwei for ordering the demolitions of roadside kiosks used by the small-scale business operators.
The administrator last week served the traders with a notice to demolish their stalls, saying action was to be taken against those who defy the order. They destroyed the stalls this morning.
The MCA, in a statement delivered by his personal assistance James Njoroge, said he does not support demolition of the kiosks.
He said the rumours that had spread over the weekend that he is the person behind the order placed on the roadsides by the administrator are false and are meant to tarnish his name in the public domain.
“All what you heard from people was not from me and I will not stand to support such oppressing of my people by strangers who don’t know the life we live here,” he said.
The administrator called on the public to comply and that it was a step in ensuring Witeithie is clean, saying that the kiosks are the source of the wastes that are disposed in the undesignated dumpingsites in the area.
