A ward representative in Kisii County has criticized Interior Cs Fred Matiang’i for shutting down Citizen, NTV and KTN Television stations.
Riana ward MCA Vincent Ariemba Kisii(Wiper) said the Jubilee government is using dictatorship to frustrate businesses in the country.
“Matiang’i should know the TV stations he shut down make revenue from advertisements and later pays the government tax. They are also employers of many Kenyans," he said.
According to him, many Kenyans were being left in the dark because they were not getting information on what was going on in the country.
"For fairness they should also shut down KBC and K24 because they are also local stations," he said.
He accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for being dictators.
“Jubilee government imposed itself on the people. What we want is freedom and UhuRuto should know they won’t have peace in the five years they want to lead Kenya," said the Wiper party MCA.
The televison stations were shut down on Monday for airing the swearing in of opposition's leader Raila Odinga as the peoples' President.
Yesterday Dr Matiang'i maintained that they will remain closed until investigations on the swearing in ceremony are complete.
