A Machakos MCA Peter Kyalo has appealed against Justice George Odunga's judgement that allowed Wavinya Ndeti to vie for Machakos governor sear.
Ndeti was barred by IEBC from contesting citing that she was not suitable to vie for being a member in two parties but Odunga on Wednesday the High Court approved Ndeti's Wiper party candidature for the Machakos governor seat.
Justice Odunga noted the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal decided she is a member of of the party led by NASA principal Kalonzo Musyoka.
The appeal means Ndeti is not yet off the hook and if the appeal goes through she will be barred from contesting the hotly contested Machakos governor seat.
The county residents praised the High Court's ruling saying the decision by the court has given them an opportunity to pick a leader of their choice.
“We are delighted that the court has ruled as per our prayers. We now have the opportunity to end the bad leadership we have experienced for last four years,“ a resident Jonathan Muendo told Star.
Another resident Ruth Mumo said the will of the people will now prevail.
She added that the the good development record of Ndeti while serving as Kathiani Mp endeared her to the people.
If Ndeti wins in August polls, she will succeed the incumbent Dr. Alfred Mutua.
