Residents of Awasi Onjiko Ward in Nyando Constituency have been told not to worry over the Awasi-Ponge road that cuts through their border with Muhoroni Constituency.
Their ward representative Fanuel Aim said the road shares a name with another road in Wangaya Ward in the neighbouring constituency.
“It is one road that cuts across my ward in Nyando and runs through to Wangaya in Muhoroni. I do not thinks there is anything wrong if the name is shared,” he said.
Aim said a fund for the rehabilitation of Awasi-Ponge road in Wangaya was approved in the last financial year and the rehabilitation is ongoing.
He said that for clarity he has now renamed the road on his ward as Awasi-Angoro-Ponge road and it is budgeted for rehabilitation in this financial year.
Aim told his people not to be bothered with the name of the road noting that the most important thing is development of the road.
“What is the fuss about the name of the road, our main concern should be the road being rehabilitated. These cheap politics should stop,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Aim further announced that the county government will drill a water bore hole in Angoro.
He said the allocation for the water project is ready and any time next week engineers will visit the site.
“I will take the engineers on site next week so that they can locate the exact site where to drill the bore hole,” he said.
Aim called for support from the locals to ensure smooth implementation of projects in the ward.
