Residents of Ngewa Ward have threatened to demonstrate and protest against the Kiambu County Governor for allegedly withholding a bursary fund cheque worthy Sh1.1 million.
Speaking at his ward on Sunday, area MCA Karungo wa Thang'wa said that Governor William Kabogo withheld the cheque, after the MCA claimed that the county assembly will not pass the budget of buying motor vehicles.
“When the Governor came to this sub-county last Monday, I stood and told him that the County Assembly of Kiambu will not pass a budget that is meant to buy motor vehicles which will add no value to the people of Kiambu. The Governor got furious and went back with the cheque that is meant to benefit the beneficiaries and not me,” said Karungo.
Kabogo called for a meeting with the bursary committee that was meant to take place on Thursday but he did not show up.
“The beneficiaries of the cheques, who are needy students, are suffering while the Governor is playing politics with the public money. I am planning to have all those who are involved to be summoned by the assembly on Tuesday so that they can tell us what is going on,” added Karungo.
Karungo went ahead and said that the people of his ward are ready to go to the streets and protest demanding what is ‘theirs’.
“Quite a number of people want to go to the street and protest against the Governor as they demands to be given their rights,” added Karungo.
