Vetting for the Uasin Gishu County Executive nominee for Environment, Water, and Natural Resources on Thursday took an interesting twist after a Member of the County Assembly accused the nominee, Mary Njogu, of failing to take advantage of her position to benefit her people.

Huruma MCA Peter Chomba who was attending the vetting exercise as a friend to the committee on appointment told the nominee that she had failed to represent the interest of the minority.

Njogu is the only CeC nominee from the non-Kalenjin community among a list of 10 submitted to the assembly.

She has been nominated to retain her seat.

"I have not benefited from you holding that post for the past four years. My ward has also not benefited and I know there's nobody you've employed," said Chomba.

"To me, you are not the best person to be nominated to that post as a minority," he added.

The nominee, however, declined to respond to the allegations saying, "I won't answer those issues because some of them are personal. As far as I am concerned I've always worked without bias."
