A youthful MCA from Kisii County on Monday expressed his optimism of passing of Youth Empowerment Bill 2015 in the county assembly that will see the building of a talent nurturing academy.

Speaking in his rural home, Chitago-Borabu MCA Albert Oino said many of his colleagues had pledged to back the Bill in support to young talents in various categories such as sports, music and literature fields.

He said the Bill had been drafted carefully and will see the county allocate Sh50 million that will construct three academies across the county.

“I am very optimistic that the Bill will receive support from my colleagues when it will be tabled on Wednesday. Many of them have expressed their satisfaction in it and this is a major boost to young people in the county,” he said.

“What I know is that if passed, the county government will have no choice other than setting aside Sh50 million shillings that will be used to construct three academies across the county. However, it will be upon members to decide the location,” he said.

Oino, who also an artist, said his cultural and youths department, which he chairs in the county assembly will ensure interests of the youths are respected.

“When I took office, I vowed to work had and see my fellow youths succeed. I think this is not a bad start since the county leadership has shown the willingness to empower youths in various aspects," he said.
