Kithimani Ward MCA Sammy Nduva on Wednesday tabled a motion against the Machakos County Human Resource Secretary Rosemary Mulee, accusing her of alleged corruption in dealing with county employment opportunities.
Speaking during the County Assembly proceedings on Wednesday, Nduva shocked the house when he gave vivid examples of ghost names he alleged had been employed by the Secretary.
“This County will not develop any further with officials who continue employing ghost workers. Rosemary Mulee has been employing county workers whom actually do not exist and are fixed in the payroll, earning almost Sh50,000 per month,” claimed Nduva.
Names like, “Kwame Nkruma bearing a serial number of 204 who is a Kenyatta University student and does not work here and Charles Mwangi of serial 85 and we have evidence of where he works in Nairobi and they are in Machakos payroll.”
MCA Nduva further claimed that Mulee who is also a member of County Public Service Board has been employing under-qualified persons for very crucial positions in the county.
“There has been employment of people who have not qualified at all and they are put in positions that will drag our development behind. An example of Catherine Mukonyo who hold one certificate in ECD and she is employed as Deputy Human Resource manager, added Nduva.
The motion to have the officer removed from office was supported by almost all MCAs with a few stating that the whole committee should be scrapped instead of blaming corruption on one person.
