The public has been advised to be extra vigilant in its bid to fight insecurity in the country.
Ichuni MCA Francis Oyaro said that public participation will complement the government’s efforts in the war on crime through the sharing of information.
He said that in the recent past, police have arrested terror suspects in various counties through the help of the public.
“To echo President Uhuru Kenyatta, it is upon us to help government agencies in fighting crime by keeping an eye on suspicious characters and incidents, and timely reporting them to the police in confidence,” said Oyaro.
He said that through community policing and the Nyumba Kumi initiative, the public can share information through the profiling of suspects which would help thwart crime in society.
Oyaro added that by everyone knowing their neighbours, it would be easier to not only stump out crime but also identify needy cases for government interventions such as bursaries and senior citizens to benefit from the elderly cash programme.
The ward rep was speaking on Monday during a funeral service at Gesusu in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency.
