An MCA from Kirinyaga is in police custody over allegations of inciting residents against a road contractor.
Thiba Ward MCA Jackson Murimi and Margaret Wanjiku Mbute were arrested on Saturday after reports indicated that they had incited area residents to chase away the contractor identified as Mbogo Kasarani.
Murimi was allegedly angered with reports that the contractor was harvesting tens of Lorries of the raw material from his ward and transporting it to another area for the construction of roads, yet Thiba Ward’s roads are in a poor state.
“The MCA came with close to 280 residents saying that the murram is supposed to be used in his ward yet that is not in the agreement of the tender I got from the county government,” said the contractor.
The two are being held at Wang’uru Police Station.
