Bomariba ward MCA Protus Moindi has been lauded for living by his campaign promises to install security lights at Kasarani shopping centre.
However, the residents said the MCA should speed up the project meant to boost security in the area.
“We are happy that Moindi has lived by his promise to install security lights. As Bomariba ward voters we are not regretting electing him but we are appealing to the contractor who was awarded the tender to speed up and ensure the security lights are installed without delay,” said Paul Nyakang’i.
A trader identified as Martha said traders are solidly behind the MCA in his efforts to improve security in the shopping centre.
“Soon we will have zero cases of criminals breaking into kiosks and shops to steal because the security lights will scare away the thieves who have been taking advantage of the darkness to steal in the region,” she said.
She added that traders will now be operating until late night because in the past they have been closing early due to darkness.
"We will have problems, not that we will be having lights late at night to help us to operate late at night to serve customers without fearing for our security," she noted.
