Mau-Narok MCA Benjamin Gitonga has lauded a leading local institute of higher learning for its spirited efforts and involvement in the conservation and restoration of the local environment.

Speaking at Mau-Narok trading centre today during an Annual General Meeting of Mau Women Development Group (MWDG), Gitonga congratulated Egerton University for its continued efforts in environmental conservation and restoration programmes.

He observed that the university considers the importance of taking a big role in conserving the local environment as a member and beneficiary of the natural environment, and also as a national institute of higher learning.

The MCA congratulated the university management and community for taking a leading role in environmental conservation and management, noting that the move was a big inspiration to the surrounding community, the government and other stakeholders.

“I beg to recognize the noble contributions of Egerton University in environmental conservation. The tireless efforts by the university are a big inspiration to us as members of Njoro community and to the government and others involved in environmental protection.

The MCA on the same note urged Njoro residents to participate in the Mau-Egerton Marathon that has been organized by the university to create environmental awareness and raise funds for rehabilitating of Mau Ecosystem and Njoro River.
