According to the area ward representative Joseph Oyugi Were, this is the only way for the youths and residents of Nyalenda B to play their democratic role in the elections.

He however explained that the ID cards are not only used as a voting tool but also in acquiring other services such opening up bank accounts, loan application as well as offering protection in case of security operation among many other uses.

Speaking when he officially launched ID card registration in his ward targeting youths, women and high school students, Were advised the residents to come out in large numbers and apply for the document which he described to be very vital for any citizen above 18 years.

On the other hand, Were told the residents to also apply for voters card after getting the Identification Card in preparation for the 2017 general elections.

He said that the citizens can only elect development oriented leaders only if they are registered as voters and cast them on the voting day.

Elsewhere, Were urged Nyalenda B residents to ensure they abide by the law to avoid being caught in insecurity related cases.

He decried the increasing insecurity within both Nyalenda A and B and promised to work close to his Nyalenda A counterpart Jacktone Onunga in dealing with those behind the said insecurity.

He told the security apparatus within Kisumu County to be vocal in dealing with insecurity and conduct constant operation in all corners of the county.
