Speaking on Wednesday in Machakos town, Kitheka, who was among the 23 members who walked out during Mutuas’ speech, stated that the members felt that the governor did not have anything new to tell them and the people of Machakos County.

Kitheka further stated the house expected Mutua to first of all address why tax revenue collection had gone down.

“We expected the governor to shed light on the problems facing the county and point the way forward to avoid similar occurrences again,” said Kitheka.

“The tax collected in the 2013-2014 year was very low compared to other counties that do not have as many resources as Machakos, but the governor did not address that issue. We also expected him to warn against mismanagement of public funds by some departments in his office.” said Kitheka

Cornelius as well stated that it was ironical for the governor to list new projects that he was planning to launch, yet there were numerous projects that are underway in different constituencies in the county.

“Before other projects are started, the rest that are underway and others that have been halted for lack of funds become the priority. 2013-2014 funded projects are still incomplete and yet in his speech he launched more new projects,” said Kitheka.

Finally, Kitheka stated that the MCAs were dissatisfied by the governor as he has not yet made a move to sack the corrupt officials, who are accused of corruption and mismanagement of public funds.

He however assured that the MCAs have prepared to table and support the bill to evict the accused officials from their offices.
