Speaking on Thursday at Gesima market during a sensitisation campaign, Nyameino said the move aims to get more youths join about four youth polytechnics in the region so that they can equip themselves with necessary technical skills.

He said many youths had not taken advantage of the technical institutions hence it was impossible for political leadership to support them run a worthwhile project.

“I would like you parents to take your children to polys so that they can get necessary skills that can enable them survive. We have a couple of them but unfortunately, only few of them are making use of them,” he said.

“I will buy school uniform for those who are ready to join and pay their second term school fee. Please spread the good news to those who should be joining them. It will also be easier for us to support them in some of technical projects that they may start,” he said.

Nyameino said he will also constitute a committee to be headed by parents whose mandate will be persuading young people to enroll in those technical institutions.

“I know it will be important for me to put a committee in place so that they monitor and evaluate the enrollment to those institutions,” he said.
