A Nyamira MCA has yet accused county Governor John Nyagarama of segregating the larger Kitutu Masaba constituency in his development plans.
Mr Nyagarama has been under persistent criticisms from a number of MCAs from the constituency who have often threatened to stage demonstrations against his leadership.
Kemera MCA James Mating’a said the governor was using his proxies to frustrate development agenda in the larger Kitutu Masaba, a constituency he allegedly perceives to be an opposition stronghold.
“The Governor is very discriminative especially to our Kitutu Masaba region. We allocate projects to all regions in the county assembly but our regions end up being ignored. For instance, water and roads projects have derailed just because we come from Bogetutu,” he told this writer Sunday,.
“This is unacceptable and it’s my wish he opens up his eyes and serves every region right. We are victims just because we fight for good governance in the assembly. We question the awarding of tenders and in return our wards are sidelined,” he said.
He claimed their close relationship with area MP Timothy Bosire had even worsened their association with the Governor who reportedly doesn’t see eye to eye with the MP.
“Just because Mr Bosire is close to us, we get sidelined because we are raising integrity issues out of pressure from him. We want equity the governor must serve us equally,” he added.
The claims have since been refuted by County Secretary Mr Erick Onchana who defended the county government saying all regions are factored in development.
“The county government serves all regions equally. I think the MCA lacks basic facts but at the end of it all, the work being done will be seen by those at the grassroots. All regions are equal,” he told the reporter via phone.
