Kisumu Nominated Member of County Assembly Caroline Agwanda has cautioned the county government against plans to relocate three major offices to the ninth floor of the county headquarters building.
The county government offices are currently located on the fourth floor of the building.
Plans were underway to relocate the offices of Governor Jack Ranguma, his Deputy Ruth Odinga and County Secretary Humphrey Nakitare from the fourth floor to the ninth floor.
Nominated MCA representing Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) Caroline Agwanda said that the move was going to inconvenient disabled residents who visit the governor’s office, as the building does not have an elevator system.
Agwanda asked Governor Jack Ranguma to intervene in the changes saying that the interests of all residents needed to be considered.
“Even persons living with disabilities like us need to access the office of the governor and that is why the offices should not be moved any further.
The building has no elevator system and this wills really inconvenient disabled persons seeking to access the governor’s office,” said Agwanda.
Speaking to the press at the county assembly on Thursday, Agwanda challenged the county government to install an elevator system in the building.
