Huruma Ward MCA Peter Chomba has accused police officers at Eldoret Central Police of conniving with land grabbers to grab plots from their owners.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town on Tuesday morning, Chomba said that the grabbers are waiting until owners start developing their plots only to send police officers to accuse them of 'trespassing'.
"We have a problem of land grabbing here. Grabbers are conniving with land officials to acquire fake title deeds. They then go to the police station to ask for officers to apprehend the real plot owners," said Chomba.
The MCA is now appealing to the senior police bosses in the county to intervene so that their officers are not used in dubious missions by selfish people.
"The senior Police officers may not be aware what their juniors are doing. There is nowhere in the constitution where police are said to be the custodians of land," said the MCA.
Police could not be reached for comment.
