Dandora Area Two MCA Stephen Murithi has been linked to the theft of two pistols at the Buruburu Police Station.
The two weapons, a Taurus and Ceska pistols, were reportedly stolen from the station's armoury on March 26, 2017.
After a violent robbery along Kangundo Road on April 24, officers recovered the Taurus and nabbed two suspects, Joseph Waweru Kinyua and Jeremiah Njoroge Chege.
Acting on information they obtained from the suspects, police raided a Dandora house belonging to the MCA in search of the Ceska pistol.
However, the search did not come to fruition as nothing was obtained.
The MCA was then booked at Jogoo Police Station where he put in detention, missing out on Jubilee Party nominations.
Also arrested in connection to the theft was Police constable Collins Wasike Etakwa of Buruburu station.
Accortding to sources, the said officer was interdicted in 2012 for allegedly stealing exhibits at the station but continued to stay at the staff quarters and has been getting some duties assigned to him.
“The suspects including the MCA are all in custody. The Flying Squad officers are now handling investigations,” said a senior detective.
