An MCA in Nakuru County Assembly has defended Governor Kinuthia Mbugua over his development record.
Mosop ward MCA Njenga Mwaura has further cautioned Nakuru residents to be wary of some enemies of development out to tarnish Mbugua's name.
"Even our, President Uhuru Kenyatta, recognizes the efforts of Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, a mere political sympathiser won't underestimate him as we watch," said Mwaura.
Speaking on Wednesday after hosting senior county government officials led by the governor and his deputy Joseph Rutto at a prayer rally organised by the Grace of God Church, Mwaura noted that Nakuru has played host to many national functions which is proof enough that the county was among the best in the country.
"Let's be realistic here; how many times has the President visited our county so far? To an ordinary eye, it might be just normal but if you analyse everything from another point of view, the organisers of these events have confidence in Nakuru's capacity and that's why they bring such high profile events here," he said.
The Mosop MCA took issue with Mbugua haters saying anybody who cannot appreciate the efforts he has employed in transforming Nakuru was an enemy of development.
'All factors constant, we need to give our governor a pat on the back because of what he has done for our county in terms of development since assuming power," he added.
"As much as they say a prophet is not respected in his own backyard, this one is worth commendation unless you hail from another planet," he added.
After playing host to the national prayer day after the acquittal of all cases at the ICC, Nakuru will once more welcome the country in two weeks time to celebrate Madaraka Day.
Preparations to host the President again on June 1 at Afraha stadium are in top gear.
